Nella is married with six children. She operates a fishing business to make a living. Her husband works as a teacher. He has been in this field of business for a year, and she earns more to support her husband's income.
Recently, she borrowed a loan from GDMPC Microcredit to buy raw ingredients to prepare calamay (a sticky sweet rice delicacy packaged in a coconut shell). In the future, she wants to improve the general living situation of the entire family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
