Benkadi Group

The Benkadi Group is made up of married women with an average age of 38 and four children each. They all live within the frameworks of traditional families in the village of Zebougou, in the commune of Massigui, Dioïla Prefecture, Koulikoro Region (the second administrative area of the Republic of Mali). They all know each other through the bonds of family, community and friendship. They work in the restaurant business and the commerce of cereals and condiments. This will be the sixteenth loan for the women of the Benkadi Group.

In order to satisfy the enormous demand from their customers, they have turned to Soro Yiriwaso. The requested loan amount will go towards the aforementioned merchandise (i.e. cereals).

Awa, the woman in the middle of the standing row, is illiterate. She currently works as a rice vendor. She plans on buying one sack of rice from the wholesalers at the weekly market. She sells her stock for cash out of her own home to a mixed customer base. She plans on making a monthly profit of 12,000 FCFA, which will be partially reinvested into her business, with the rest going towards her children's education.

Le groupe BENKADI est composé de femmes mariées, elles ont en moyenne 38 ans et 4 enfants. Elles vivent toutes dans des familles traditionnelles dans le village de Zebougou, commune de Massigui, préfecture de Dioïla, Région de Koulikoro (deuxième région administrative de la République du Mali).
Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de parenté, de voisinage et d’amitié. Elles font la restauration, le commerce de céréales et de condiments. Les femmes du groupe BENKADI sont à leur seizième prêt solidaire.
Dans le but de satisfaire la demande énorme de leurs clientèles, elles font recours à SORO YIRIWASO.
Ces montants seront utilisés pour acheter leurs marchandises déjà citées.
La cliente AWA, personne au milieu dans le rang des debout est analphabète, elle est actuellement vendeuse de riz. Elle compte acheter 1 sac de riz chez les grossistes au marché hebdomadaire. La vente se fait en détail et en espèce chez elle à une clientèle mixte. Elle compte réaliser un bénéfice mensuel de 12 000Fcfa, qui sera en parti réinvesti dans l’activité et le reste assurer la scolarité des enfants.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
