Tiessiri Group
In this Group: Tata , Adiaratou, Kadiatou , Mariam , Kadiatou
The Tiessiri group is made up of married women who, on average, are 44 years old and have five children. She all live in traditional families in the town of Fana, Fana Coura neighborhood, Guégnéka commune, Dioïla prefecture, Koulikoro region (the second administrative region of the Republic of Mali). The group members know each other from family, neighborhood, and friendship ties.

The women sell soap, clothing, onions, potatoes, and pottery.

With the goal of meeting the great demand from their customers, the group members decided to join Soro Yiriwaso. They are on their third group loan.

Mariam, standing second from the right of the photo, has not been to school. She sells potatoes.

She plans to buy four sacs of potatoes from suppliers at the weekly markets. She will then resell her goods at retail from her house and from Fana's daily market to a mixed group of customers.

Mariam hopes to earn an average monthly profit of 70,000 francs CFA, which will be reinvested back into her business.

Le groupe TIESSIRI est composé de femmes mariées elles ont en moyenne 44 ans et 5 enfants. Elles vivent tous dans des familles traditionnelles dans la ville de Fana, quartier Fana Coura, commune de Guégnéka, préfecture de Dioïla, Région de Koulikoro, (deuxième région administrative de la république du Mali).
Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de parenté, de voisinage et d’amitié. Elles font le commerce de savon, de l’habillement, d’oignon, de patate et de poterie.
Les femmes du groupe TIESSIRI sont à leur troisième prêt solidaire. Dans le but de satisfaire la demande énorme de leurs clientèles, elles font recours à SORO YIRIWASO.
La cliente MARIAM , deuxième personne à partir de la droite n’est pas instruite, elle est actuellement vendeuse de patate. Elle compte achète 4 sacs de patate chez ses fournisseurs au marché hebdomadaire. La vente se fait en détail et en espèce chez elle et au marché journalier de fana à une clientèle mixte. Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice moyen mensuel de 70 000 FCFA qui sera réinvesti dans son activité.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
