Phebe is 71 years old and lives in Tabo-o, Jimenez, Misamis Occidental. She is widowed with five children who are now adults.
Phebe has been engaged in a rice palay trading business for 10 years. She earns approximately PHP 4,000 each month doing this type of business activity. At present, she is also receiving a monthly pension.
She has requested a loan to be used for purchasing an additional 20 sacks of rice palay for drying, milling and selling.
Phebe has been a member of PMPC for almost 14 years.
In the future she hopes to expand her existing business.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
