A citizen of the Samrong Torng district located in Kompong Speu province, Savorn is a 57-year-old married woman. Different from other families who do farming as the main family business, Savorn’s family raises and sells chickens and pigs as the primary income source.
She has been a borrower of Kiva’s partner, VisionFund for two cycles already. This is the third cycle for Savorn. She is applying for a micro loan of 2,000,000 KHR to expand her current business. With the loan money, she will buy more chickens and pigs for her business. Also she will use a portion of it to cover medical expenses for herself and the whole family. She hopes that the loan money from VisionFund enables her to live an upgraded lifestyle and provide the family sufficient basic needs.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
