Hou is residing in the Phnom Srouch district of Kompong Speu province. She is a 44-year-old married woman.
As a farmer, Hou’s primary income is from selling crops. However, the yield from farming has brought an average daily income of only 8,000 KHR.
Hou has been a borrower of Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, for the past three cycles. Her past loan has enabled her to uplift the lifestyle of the whole family, and she has successfully repaid it.
Now, she is seeking a new loan of 2,000,000 KHR in order to buy fertilizers for her cash crop. She strongly hopes that she can boost her crop yield timely so that she can earn more income to maintain an appropriate lifestyle for the family.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
