Thy is aged 31 years and married with three children who are all dependent and in school. She lives in a rural village of Kampong Thom province’s Prasath Balang district. She and her husband earn a living through farming rice, which they have been doing for 13 years. They have also raised pigs for eight years and sold groceries for three years. With these businesses, they can earn about 50,000 KHR per day.
Thy has been with VisionFund for one cycle. She successfully used the previous loan to better support her family and increase her family’s business. Now she is applying for another loan. She wants to use her loan to buy fertilizer for her farmland and buy pig feed for her pig raising. She hopes to fatten her pigs and timely grow her rice.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
