Hayat is a 27-year-old refugee. She is married and has two sons. Her husband is a labourer and they live in an IDP settlement. Hayat has been raising seasonal vegetables and greens for six years and has good experience in this area. She raises onions, cucumbers, and greens, selling them at local bazaar. Her monthly income is 180 AZN.

Vegetables are in high demand during the year and people buy them every day. They use vegetables to cook soups, dishes with fried vegetables, and other tasty things.

Hayat’s income from gardening doesn’t cover her family’s needs. She applied for 1,500 AZN in order to buy other kinds of vegetables and fruits to raise.

More information about this loan

This loan is designed for clients residing in settlements for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Bilasuvar, Azerbaijan. An internally displaced person (IDP) is someone who has been forced to flee his or her home due to armed conflict, violence, human rights violations, or natural or manmade disasters, but who, unlike a refugee, has not crossed an international border (source: UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs). Many of these people have failed to qualify for loans through formal channels due to low income and lack of collateral. By funding this loan, you are creating opportunities and supporting economic development in extremely underserved communities.
