Phally, age 41 and a mother of three children, is a citizen from Bovel district of Battambang province where she grows rice on three hectares of farmland. She is also a vendor. She has been with this business for several years, earning about 35,000 KHR per day.
Phally is in her sixth loan with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) with a successful repayment of her past loans, which have enabled her to provide sufficient food for her children as well as to set aside some money for the future.
Now, she is seeking a new loan in order to pay for the plowing fee and labor costs and to buy rice seed and fertilizer. She highly hopes that she can gain a good yield, better than before.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
