Lea lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is married with four children, all of whom attend school. She is also looking after two of her nieces. She has been selling Cavendish bananas at the market at retail for ten years, working six days a week. She also runs a greengrocery as another source of income. She has requested a loan of Ug.Shs 1,200,000 from MCDT- SACCO to be able to buy more Cavendish bananas, and stock the grocery with more tomatoes, green peppers, bitter tomatoes, mangoes, passion fruit and pineapples.
Lea's challenges include seasonality and transportation. Her dream is to expand her business to being able to sell more fruit at both retail and wholesale. She joined MCDT-SACCO because of low interest charged on loans and because it is much easier to join MCDT than to join other financial organizations in her area of residence. She owns a house with access to electricity but no piped water. Her major monthly expenses include school fees.
