Asia's Group
In this Group: Asia, Naheed
Asia, 39, is married and spending her life with her four children and husband in the area of Lahore, Pakistan. She is taking a loan out for her husband, who owns an embroidery shop.

Her husband has been selling embroidery materials for many years. He sells sequins, pearls, thread, precious stones, silk, needles and wooden frames for embroidery. The embroidery material for bridal dresses is very expensive, but its turnover is very high.

Due to the high cost of materials, he is facing a shortage and is unable to purchase expensive raw materials to sell. Therefore, Asia has requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner BRAC Pakistan. With this loan, her husband can fill the shortage of embroidery materials. He will buy stocks of thread, fancy cloth, sequins, precious stones and pearls of various colours.

Asia is very thankful to Kiva and its field partner BRAC Pakistan.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
