Azra's Group
In this Group: Azra, Samina, Nabeela, Uzma
Azra is one of the four members of this loan group which is applying for a 105,000 PKR loan through Brac Pakistan. She is 45 and the mother of six sons and a daughter. Her husband owns a shop where he builds wooden furniture such as sofas, tables and beds. He has been making furniture for many years and has been teaching his craft to his sons as well.

One of Azra’s sons has become a fine carpenter and has the skill and business sense to open his own shop. To do so he needs to buy tools and furniture-making materials, so his mother will be applying her share of the group’s 105,000 PKR loan toward that end.

Azra is very thankful to Kiva and its field partner BRAC Pakistan for this honorable support.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
