Gina Del Carmen
Professor Gina, age 35, has been in charge of training services at an educational institution for 10 years. She is married to Herry Antonio Chacón, and they have a 15-year-old son, who is currently in high school. Professor M. is requesting her third loan, which she will use for home improvement. She used her previous loans for paperwork for graduation courses, and for degree processing. She has been an excellent client with good credit history, and is responsible with her payments and with her loans in general. She is a very self-sacrificing person whose work schedule is from 7:30 am to 8:00 pm from Monday through Saturday. On Sundays, she also works from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, which means that she only spends time with her son in the evenings and on Sunday afternoons. She works hard, however, with an eagerness to assure better income so that she can face their financial situation. She gets support from her husband, who works in construction. Her mother, who is very close to her, takes care of her home and her son.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
