Harriet
Harriet is 36 years old and lives in the town of Mukono, in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has three children, none of whom are currently in school. For the past four years, Harriet has been working hard to manage her retail shop, where she sells sugar, soap, rice, flour, posho, detergent, cooking oil, eggs, sodas, and pampers.

To help expand her business, Harriet has requested a loan of UGX 3,000,000 (Ugandan shillings) from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy sugar, soap, rice, flour, posho, detergent, cooking oil, eggs, sodas, and pampers and will help Harriet to generate greater profits and increase her income. Harriet hopes that, in the future, she will be able to educate her children.

Harriet is a member of BRAC Uganda's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs, like Harriet, who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
