Burbuqe, whose name in English means ‘Bud’, has been scheduled for a surgical heart procedure and she is seeking your compassion. According to the health specialists, the sooner her surgery takes place the better for her health. Burbuqe suffered from a heart attack right after she gave birth to her only son, about 27 years ago. During her interview she said she had an operation then, and now needs another procedure that will last 20 more years.
Despite her health conditions, she works hard: she raises rabbits, ducks, and chickens. Burbuqe also participates in agriculture; she has 450 apple orchards and plants lima beans and wheat in large quantities to sell to wholesale buyers. A traditional meal in her region is lima beans with tomato sauce cooked in a pan in the oven.
About VisionFund Albania

Striving to improve child welfare, the organization offers a variety of loan products designed for rural, traditionally underserved clients and their families. These products include agriculture, business and household improvement loans, as well as "integration loans" targeted to help the poorest, most vulnerable Albanian households acquire value chain resources.
While VFA is focused on the empowerment of the poor overall, it pays special attention to women. About 60% of loans to entrepreneurs on Kiva go to women.
