She has a lot of experience in agriculture, which she learned from a very young age from her parents. She decided to stick with it since her parents passed on a plot of land to cultivate so she could earn her own income. It is located 20 minutes from the house where she lives.

Norma is seeking help in order to buy fertilizers, manure, and insecticides for her coffee crop, as these products are very expensive these days. The thought of a disease caused by not taking precautionary measures that could affect her fields and cause her to lose her crop weighs on her mind. Her dreams for the future are to have an abundant coffee plantation that brings blessings to sustain her family and can be cultivated from generation to generation, and to improve her house as necessary.

More information about this loan

These loans are designed for female farmers who produce a variety of products (onion, garlic, eggplant, spinach, mango, strawberries, etc.). Loan terms will vary depending on need, and borrowers can choose to make a "bullet" payment timed with harvest profits. Agricultural loans are considered risky in Honduras due to external forces like unpredictable weather and worldwide crop prices. As a result, many traditional financial institutions are unwilling to offer these loans. With Kiva funding, COMIXMUL will be able to reach more borrowers with agricultural loans tailored to their needs.
