Mwamba is a determined retailer and a senior member of the business group 'Tusonge Mbele'. She is 60 years old and mother to four children, two of whom are studying and two of whom are already married.
Mwamba has been selling soft drinks from a stall at her home in a busy district of her town for 24 years now. She started her business with money from her savings, and now works with the field partner, Hekima. She plans to use her loan to buy ten crates of soft drinks such as Fanta. In this way she hopes to be able to feed and educate her children.
Mwamba is very grateful to Hekima for helping small entrepreneurs, who are excluded from the classic banking system, to become independent. This is especially important during this difficult time following the conflict in the east of the country.

This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
