Born in BAMAKO, ROKIA lives with her four children and husband in a nuclear family in the MISSION CATHOLIQUE district of OUELESSEBOUGOU City, in Préfecture de KATI, (Région de Koulikoro), Republic of Mali. Not having had the chance to progress in school, ROKIA soon became interested in revenue-generating businesses, especially the buying and selling of fabrics, including ’pagnes’ (the colorful cloth of western Africa).

After having paid back the fourth individual loan, ROKIA is on her fifth individual loan with Soro Yiriwaso. It will be used to purchase 20 lengths of fabrics and 15 lengths of ‘pagne’ cloth. She gets her supplies of merchandise in Bamako. And she makes her sales retail to men and women customers paying with cash or credit at her home, in OUELESSEBOUGOU, and where panning for gold is done.

ROKIA hopes to make a monthly profit of 150,000 francs CFA that will be used to help out her husband in meeting family needs, pay back the loan, and reinvest the rest in the commerce of fabrics.
