Living in a rural village of Battambang province’s Moung Russey district, Phan is a 63-year-old married woman. She has eight children, two of whom are dependent on her and still in school. To make a living, she has been farming rice and working as a paid worker. The current business earns her about 100,000 KHR per day and she manages to save about 40,000 KHR each day for her future needs.
Phan has been with VisionFund for five cycles and completely repaid the past loans. The past loans have helped Phan to better support her family and improve her business. Now she is asking for a loan to buy fertilizers and seeds for her farmland. With this loan, she hopes to increase her current business and also hopes to make more income to improve her family’s living standard.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
