Dania Del Carmen
Dania del Carmen is a young medical student. She is requesting a loan to cover her educational expenses and this is her story: "My name is Dania. I'm 20 years old. I'm originally from Moca, Espaillat Province, but I have had to emigrate to Santo Domingo to undergo my university studies and my parents did not have enough resources to afford that. My father works as a taxi driver and my mother works in a tobacco factory and both reside in our hometown. I have three siblings and I am the oldest.
Currently, I want to major in medicine at the University Pedro Henríquez Ureña ( UNPHU ) because, since childhood, I have longed to reach my goal to be a great doctor. I have taken courses and internships related to the area of health. With the completion of these courses, I have had great satisfaction and I have undoubtedly realized my calling as a doctor.
I am writing to you in order to make such a request, given that I have no financial resources to make such a career and my parents do not receive enough income to help. The granting of this loan will help me fulfill my dreams and achieve my goals, as well as develop my skills and abilities to use my knowledge until I am one of the best in my field. This way I can help my parents and my siblings so that they can move forward with my knowledge and service to the community. After concluding my studies, I will continue getting experience, specialize in a particular area of health, work, and provide my services to the needy in the country."
