Arif I. is 38 years old and sells cattle for a living. He buys cows at the local market, raises them for one month, and then sells them at a profit. This business has been the main source of income for his family for the past 12 years. He has large family consisting of three children, and his parents, who live with them in one house. Arif is planning to increase the size of his business by buying more cattle to raise and sell. To do this, he is requesting a loan of 1200 USD. As this is his first loan, Arif thanks everyone for their trust and support.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
