Juliet is a single mother of four children, two of whom go to school. She doesn’t take care of additional family members. She has a business selling charcoal and has been in this business for 9 years. She has applied for a loan of 2,000,000 UGX from MCDT-SACCO to buy more bags of charcoal. She generates additional income from rental rooms and bricklaying. She works in a market seven days out of every week and sells both at retail and wholesale. Her major business challenges include transportation and thieves. She is aspiring to own a delivery van to ease in transportation and also to sell at wholesale only. She decided to join MCDT-SACCO to acquire more capital and because it was caring for low income people. She resides in the family house and the family has access to electricity but not to piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees and paying for utility bills.
