Living a wooden house in the Moung Russey district of Battambang province, Khorm is 49 years old and married with three children. The main source of her family’s income is rice farming. She has been in this business for almost 20 years. With the current business, she can earn about 50,000 KHR per day.

This is the sixth loan for Khorm with VisionFund and she has successfully paid back all of her previous loans. She successfully used the past loan to improve her livelihood. Now leading her group to apply for a loan with VisionFund, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizer for her farmland. She hopes to increase her crop yield and sell it for a good price so as to better support her family.

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
