More information about this loan

This loan is designed by FATEN to provide safe drinking water to the Palestinian people. In the Gaza Strip, aquifers suffer from increased pollution and waste as a result of the ongoing political conflict, over-pumping and pollution from waste-disposal sites. According to the UN and other international aid organizations, polluted drinking water in Gaza is a major cause of disease and malnutrition, especially among children. Aquafers are becoming increasingly polluted in the West Bank as well, mostly caused by waste from sewage facilities. By funding this loan, you are ensuring that individuals have the opportunity to purchase home purification systems and have access to clean drinking water.

Palestinians face unique challenges due to the economic and political environment in the West Bank and Gaza. Click here to learn more about how Kiva and FATEN are working to help Palestinian borrowers overcome these obstacles and how your support can make a difference.
