Joann, a mother of three, operates a general store to make a living. Aside from this, she also helps her husband working in their own farm to earn extra income. For two years in running the business, she has earned well to support the needs of her children and has been able to sustain it. Her husband manages their main source of income, which is their farm.
She borrowed a loan from GDMPC to purchase additional grocery goods to sell. She hopes to improve the business to ensure a better source of income for the family in the future.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
