Salomi's Group
In this Group: Salomi, Parveen
Salomi is a 38-year old married woman, living in the area of Lahore, Pakistan. She is the mother of three children. Her husband owns an electronics shop in which he offers televisions and LCD TVs on installments. He sells a number of types of TV and LCD TV brands such as Sony, Samsung, LG, Nobel and Panasonic. He also offers a one-year warranty for those electronic products.

Salomi’s husband wants to grow his business and offer more electronics to his customers but he does not have enough capital for investment. So Salomi requested a loan from BRAC Pakistan, which is the field partner of Kiva. Through this loan, her husband will buy more electronic products to sell on installments. Salomi is very thankful to Kiva and BRAC Pakistan.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
