The seven members of the Sabaly Group are all married women who are, on average, 42 years old and have three children. Most of them live in traditional families in Ouayerma I, a busy district of Sikasso (third administrative region of Mali).

This will be the group's thirteenth loan with the field partner, Soro Yiriwaso, and it will be used to satisfy the demands of their customers.

Kadia (sitting in the middle of the photo) sells wax pagnes (traditional, wrap-around clothing). She will use her loan to buy fifteen wax pagnes from Sikasso. Kadia is well known for the quality of the clothing she sells, she sells her product to individual men and women, locally and at the Ouayerma I market, for cash or on credit.

Kadia expects to make a monthly average profit of 45,000 francs CFA, which she will use to repay her loan and interest, and increase her savings.

Les sept membres du groupe Sabaly sont des femmes mariées avec une moyenne d’âge de 42 ans, et ont en moyenne 3 enfants, vivant la plupart dans des familles traditionnelles à Ouayerma I un quartier populaire de la ville de Sikasso 3ème région administrative du Mali.
Elles sont à leur treizième prêt solidaire avec l’institution de micro finance Soro Yiriwaso afin de satisfaire le besoin de leur clientèle.
Mme Kadia fait la vente de pagne wax dans ce groupe de femmes Sabaly, Elle est assise au milieu sur la photo.
Elle compte acheter avec son prêt 15 pièces de pagne wax à Sikasso d’où elle est beaucoup sollicitée par sa clientèle pour la qualité de ses pagnes wax, sa revente se fait en détail sur place et au marché de Ouayerma I à une clientèle composée d’homme et de femme au comptant et à crédit.
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 45 000 francs CFA dont une partie est utilisée pour payer le prêt et son interêt et l’autre pour son épargne.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
