Adelaida, 36 years old, is separated and lives in Gabayan, Lazi, Siquijor. She has two children who are in school.
From her desire to help the family, she engaged in a fish vending starting up with a capital of 3,000 PHP. It has operated for two years already.
Now, she is planning to borrow PHP 10,000 from Paglaum MP Cooperative, of which she became a member in 2013.
She wants to have a stall in the public market to display her fish. Someday she will be happy seeing her children finish their studies.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
