Carlita is a widow who earns a living from weaving lampakanay leaves. After more than six years in this business, she earns well to sustain their living. To add sales, she also buys ready-made or finished products to resell. For this reason, she borrowed a new loan from GDMPC micro credit to buy more lampakanay woven products to sell. In the future, she wants to improve the general living situation of the entire family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
