Jenni Roxana
Thanks to the various financial support that Jenni has received since April, 2013, to give assistance and maintenance to her crops of rice, these crops have been helped to grow, her land, harvest, and family income have been strengthened, and she has been able to cover her household expenses in a more orderly manner and without worry. She used her first loan to finish helping one manzana (about 1.75 acres) of rice, from which she obtained excellent income and was able to pay off her first loan satisfactorily. Thanks to this, she was able to buy urea and 12-24-12 fertilizer. She applied for her second loan for the same purpose so that it would help her to care for the whole manzana of rice, and with it she bought compost, urea, Rienda insecticide for the blight, Herbax herbicide for the weeds, boron, and foliar spray, with which she could maintain her planting of rice, obtaining a production of 100 quintales [1 quintal is approximately 100 lbs] of husked rice, which was an excellent harvest, since she helped her plantings adequately and on time. With the desire and hopes to continue to grow, Jenni is now applying to be supported with financing for a third time, which, as before, she will always invest in growing rice. She will buy urea, 12-24-12 fertilizer, boron, Rienda insecticide for the blight, Domines insecticide, and Herbax herbicide, since with the production that she obtained she paid off the last loan, and the earnings were invested in improvements in her house, which were necessary, such as a quality floor, coating, and polishing. She needs to return to helping her plantings of rice, hoping again to be supported by the various investors from the Kiva platform.

More information about this loan

These loans are designed for female farmers who produce a variety of products (onion, garlic, eggplant, spinach, mango, strawberries, etc.). Loan terms will vary depending on need, and borrowers can choose to make a "bullet" payment timed with harvest profits. Agricultural loans are considered risky in Honduras due to external forces like unpredictable weather and worldwide crop prices. As a result, many traditional financial institutions are unwilling to offer these loans. With Kiva funding, COMIXMUL will be able to reach more borrowers with agricultural loans tailored to their needs.
