Ramiz is 51 years old and married with a daughter and a son. He is a refugee and lives with his family in an IDP settlement. His wife is a housekeeper and educates children. The source of the family’s income is Ramiz’s construction materials market. He has been selling paints, glue, masking tapes, drills, and glass dust etc. for 25 years, and he sorts out in this area very well. His monthly income is 150 AZN.

A lot of houses are built in IDP settlements at this moment because of the big population of refugees. That’s why there is a high demand for construction materials in that region. Ramiz’s market is the most popular and biggest one. Almost all builders require his materials.

Though Ramiz's market is very big, the assortment there isn’t as wide as required. This makes Ramiz’s income very low and impossible to cover the family’s demands. He applied for 1100 AZN in order to supply more construction materials for market.

By funding this loan, you are creating opportunities and supporting economic development in extremely underserved communities.

About Aqroinvest:

Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded in 2001 by a group of 32 farmers from Imishli. It has since grown to become the largest credit union in Azerbaijan, owned by its more than 5,400 borrowers and boasting a portfolio of nearly US$12 million.
AqroInvest is focused on providing loans to the following groups of people: rural farmers, people living in distant southern villages with little or no access to finance and internally displaced people and refugees, many of whom lost their homes and livelihoods during the violent conflicts in the 1990s.

In May 2011, Aqroinvest started a new project with Kiva proving higher education loans to students. The project gives students the support and financing they need to continue their education and helps pay for tuition fees at various universities in Azerbaijan. Aqroinvest is the first credit union in the country to offer students loans.
