Benkady Group

Benkady is a group of women from Hamdallaye, a neighborhood in Koutiala. They live in large traditional families with their husbands, children, and other relatives. They average 43 years of age and have at least 5 children.

They sell various products, such as firewood, charcoal, condiments, vegetables, fruits, fabrics, etc. To bolster their businesses, the members of the group decided to join the loan program from Soro Yiriwaso. They are seeking their fifth group loan.

Massan is the woman on the right in the photograph. She sells firewood. She intends to use her loan to buy firewood. She gets her wood supplies in the villages surrounding Koutiala, and sells it at her home, to a diverse clientele.

Whereas the other members of Benkady Group intend to turn an average monthly profit of XOF 160'000 during this loan cycle, Mrs. Massan intends to reach XOF 170'000.

In addition to repaying the loans, they will use part of their income to cover personal expenses and increase their working capital. They wish to reinforce their collaboration with Soro Yiriwaso, to avoid getting out of stock.

Benkady est un regroupement de femmes du quartier Hamdallaye de Koutiala qui vivent dans de grandes familles traditionnelles avec leurs maris, enfants et autres parents. Elles ont en moyenne 43 ans et ont au moins 5 enfants.
Ce groupe de femmes fait le commerce d’articles divers tels que, de Bois de chauffage, Légumes et Fruits, Charbons, Condiments, Tissus et divers. Pour augmenter la taille de leurs activités, les membres ont décidé d’intégrer le programme crédit de Soro Yiriwaso. Elles sont à leur cinquième prêt de groupe.
Massan 1 ère de la droite vers la gauche est une vendeuse de bois de chauffe. Elle compte utiliser son prêt pour acheter du bois de chauffe. Elle se procure de ces Bois dans les villages environnant de Koutiala et les vend à la maison à une clientèle diverse.
Tandis que les autres membres du groupe Benkady comptent réaliser un bénéfice moyen de 160 000CFA chacune au cours de ce cycle Mme Massan compte réaliser 170 000FCFA.
En plus du remboursement des prêts, elles utilisent une partie du revenu pour faire face aux dépenses personnelles et augmenter son fonds de commerce.
Elles souhaitent voir renforcer ce partenariat avec Soro Yiriwaso pour que les stocks ne soient pas rares.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
