Lenie is married with one child. She operates a retail store while her husband works as a private driver to make a living. After five years in the business, Lenie did not manage to grow the business because the revenue generated was all spent on daily needs when her husband stopped working for a month. Despite this, she never lost the will to continue and with GDMPC, she knows it can be possible for things to improve. She took a loan to buy additional grocery goods to sell. She hopes to generate a larger income so that she can improve the business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
