Mamilita is 56 years old, married and a resident of Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental, Mindanao, Philippines. She has eight adult-aged children. She earns a living through her buy and sell business. At the same time, she operates a sari-sari store in her house. Both businesses are doing well.
She has been a member of PMPC for three years and enjoys the privileges of being a member of the Cooperative. Now, she is applying for a loan of PHP 40,000 to buy raw materials and equipment to start a carinderia (mini-restaurant) business. Through this, Mamilita hopes to increase her income to support her family and to use for their future needs.
Mamilita deeply wishes to maintain her membership in good standing with PMPC.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
