Novelita is widowed with four children. She is 60 years old and lives in Poblacion Mahayag Zamboanga Del Sur, Philippines. Novelita is a farmer and at the same time, a survivor pensioner of her late (PNP) husband. She has been doing this for 10 years with capital from her pension. She has requested a loan to finance her pigs and her farm (10 sacks of feed and 5 sacks of fertilizer). Novelita has been a member of Paglaum MPC for three years. In the future, Novelita hopes to earn more for the expansion of her piggery.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
