Chantha, 40, is married living with her family in a village of the Kampong Siem district of Kampong Cham province, Cambodia. She has six children. For the last twenty-four years, Chantha and her husband have been farming rice as a main source of the family’s income to make a living. Together, they can earn about US$14 per day from the current business.
Chantha has been with VisionFund for two cycles and completely paid back the loans. The past loans which she successfully repaid have helped her support her family with sufficient foods. Now she is asking for a loan. Chantha wants to buy wedding supplies for celebrating her daughter’s wedding. She hopes this loan will enable her to have enough supplies for this wedding.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
