N. Getu is a single mother of 5 children with her own business ("Gomesi") sewing school uniforms and ladies' traditional wear. She makes uniforms for three schools and often gets commissions from the Kampala City Council to make uniforms for orphans, and this ready market helps to boost her income. She is so grateful for the loans that have been like a partner to her after her husband's sudden disappearance without a trace 8 years ago (she is unsure whether to say she is married or a widow). She now cares for three grandchildren whose parents (her own children) died of AIDS. She needs a loan to be able to buy more material for making both school uniforms and ladies' traditional wear.
