Fassodeme Group
In this Group: Yate, Sali, Mamba, Nian
The Fassodeme group consists of four married women who on average are 22 years old with three children. They live in traditional extended families in the village of Meridiela.

They became acquainted through neighborhood ties, friendship and commerce. To strengthen their financial capacity to improve their businesses, they joined the Soro Yiriwaso institution where they are on their second loan. The previous loan was repaid in full.

This group of women sells grain like Yate, who is the third person standing from left to right in the photo. She intends to use her loan to buy 250 kg of rice from wholesalers in Meridiela. She conducts her retail sales at market and at home, for cash and on credit to a mixed clientele.

She expects to attain average monthly profits of 12,000 CFA francs, to be invested in the business and used to repay the loan.

Le groupe FASSODEME est constitué de 4 femmes mariées ayant une moyenne d’âge de 22 ans et 3 enfants. Elles vivent dans des familles traditionnelles élargies dans le village de Méridièla.
Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de voisinage, d’amitié et de commerce. Pour renforcer leur capacité financière afin de mieux faire leur commerce, elles ont adhéré à l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso avec laquelle elles sont à leur 2ème prêt. Le précédent prêt a été correctement remboursé. Ce groupe de femmes fait le commerce de céréales à l’image de YATE qui est la 3ème femme debout dans la photo de la gauche vers droite. Elle compte acheter avec son prêt, 250 kg de riz avec les grossistes de Bougouni. Elle effectue ses ventes au marché et à domicile, en détail au comptant et à crédit à une clientèle mixte .
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 12.000FCFA qui sera investi dans les activités et rembourser le prêt.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
