Julia is married with six children. She helps her husband to manage their own farm for a living. She has been harvesting and selling rice for sixteen years, and it is their main source of income to fulfill their needs. To improve the farm, Julia has taken a loan from GDMPC micro-credit to purchase organic fertilizer. She had to be determined in her efforts to gain an adequate living. She hopes to live comfortably and gain a greater income for their future needs.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
