S. Hamdam is 46 years old. He is married with 2 children – an 18-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son. He and his family live in the town of Khujand. Hamdam rents a bus and offers transportation services. Hamdam’s usual itinerary is the Khujand-Gafurov-Khujand route. He usually has many passengers as there are no other bus drivers who take this route. Hamdam has been in this business for 6 years, and it is the only source of income for the family.
Currently, Hamdam earns a profit of about $20 a day. Hamdam’s bus needs maintenance. At the moment, its running gear has to be fixed. That is why Hamdam is requesting a loan of $800 to fix the problem. One of his long-term plans is to buy the bus and continue to be self-employed. Hamdam promises to repay this loan in 12 months without any delay.
