Orlin is a farmer from the north of Nicaragua. He has a small farm measuring 6.33 hectares, on which he lives with his wife and four-year-old son. For the past five years he has relied on coffee growing, which is his main economic activity. Timely maintenance of his coffee plantations and participation in the Fairtrade certification process have allowed him to reduce risks in this market.

Over the past three years, Orlin has achieved an average yield of 4.2 tonnes of parchment coffee per hectare. His goal for the current crop cycle is to produce 5.5 tonnes of parchment coffee, his main challenge being to reduce the presence of blights and diseases that affect the coffee. He is therefore seeking funding to allow him to guarantee the application of inputs and fertilisers on time, and thus keep this risk under control.

He is confident that his determination and responsibility in his work and towards his family will help him to achieve his stated goal.
