Monica Alexandra
Mónica was born in Latacunga, in the parish of La Matriz, in the province of Cotopaxi, in the Republic of Ecuador. She is 29 years old. She is a single mother and has three beautiful children. She currently rents in the city of Latacunga, in the parish of La Matriz, an area known for having a lot of businesses. They have lived there for 3 years. With her parents’ help she was able to finish high school, but due to a lack of opportunity she wasn’t able to finish her studies so that she could have a professional career. After finishing high school, she had to work. Life has been truly difficult for Mónica since she has to provide for her children by herself.

Mónica’s biggest dream is to be able to give her children everything that she didn’t have. She hopes that her children will be successful professionals for Ecuador and that, like her, they will never give up and that they will fight with all their heart for a better life.

Mónica had several obstacles in her personal life, but with the support of her children and her parents, she was able to make progress. She is still awaiting the ideal person who will fill her with love and understanding. She currently works at the cafeteria in the Plinio Fabara School. This school is very well-known in the city of Latacunga. It’s located in front of the Technical University of Ambato. It was this school that opened the doors to Mónica so that she could earn an income.

For the moment, she is requesting a loan to invest in the improvement of her school cafeteria. She will buy chairs and tables so that the children will be more comfortable when they eat and so her profits will be greater, because the number of children in the school has increased during this past year.

Mónica would like to express her sincere thanks and greetings to Fundación Alternativa en Ecuador and to Kiva for making possible the growth in her work and personal life.
