Nancy Lorena
Nancy is a 22-year-old young woman who is hard-working, respectful, responsible, and with a strong desire to get ahead. She is a single mom with one young child. Thanks to the emotional and financial support of her parents, Nancy was able to study up to the third year in general high school and she is grateful to them for their effort which allowed her to get to that point, but for personal reasons she was unable to continue with her studies.

Her parents were the ones who, with great effort, patience, and sacrifice, taught her to work the land at a very early age. From the age of 5 she gained experience in growing vegetables (potatoes) as well as corn. Her customers are the various buyers in the region. Her potato fields are located one kilometer from her house, and she goes there with her parents to tend to her crops.

She dreams of being able to give her son the opportunity to study, as her parents did for her, supporting him so that he might be able to attend university and prepare himself academically. This will give him more options in life, better employment opportunities and the ability to establish his own business.

She wants to continue to buy more land to expand her business to generate more income for her family by selling her vegetables. That is why today she is asking for financial support so she can buy agricultural supplies which will help prevent infestations of her crops and other things that can damage them, causing all the hard work that she and her parents do every day to be for naught.

More information about this loan

These loans are designed for female farmers who produce a variety of products (onion, garlic, eggplant, spinach, mango, strawberries, etc.). Loan terms will vary depending on need, and borrowers can choose to make a "bullet" payment timed with harvest profits. Agricultural loans are considered risky in Honduras due to external forces like unpredictable weather and worldwide crop prices. As a result, many traditional financial institutions are unwilling to offer these loans. With Kiva funding, COMIXMUL will be able to reach more borrowers with agricultural loans tailored to their needs.
