An is a 52-year-old married woman and a resident from the Prey Chhor district of the Kampong Cham province. She is a mother of seven children, two of whom are employed and the remaining children help An in her farming business. For the past 30 years, An has been working on her land as a farmer. She grows rice and sells in local markets.
An is borrowing a loan in the amount of $350 to be used to buy goldsmith tools for her son who currently works in this occupation and is in need of materials to sustain his business. An is very thankful to all lenders for their loan support and hopes that this loan will better their living conditions.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
