Rafaq Hussain
Rafaq Hussain is 34 years old. He is an energetic young man living with his spouse, daughter, and elderly parents in the rural area of Lahore, Pakistan. His forefathers and relatives have been selling meat for many years. Butchery is a traditional work; he learned the art of slaughtering animals and dividing the carcass from his father. He earns a reasonable income for his entire family.

In the beginning he was purchasing small quantities of beef from the market and selling them for very reasonable rates in his town from his butcher shop. The customers were upset by stale beef for many days and he does not want to compromise his reputation and the quality of his product. This is the reason he wants to produce fresh beef and wants to buy a bull calf for producing more beef to sell. Unfortunately, he does not have enough cash in hand.
For this reason, he contacted BRAC Pakistan, a Kiva field partner. After understanding all of the procedures, he has requested a Kiva loan so that he can buy a bull calf.

He hopes that this loan will prove productive and beneficial for his butcher shop. Now he can easily produce fresh and healthy beef and he can maintain constant quality for his valued customers. He thanks Kiva and field partner, BRAC Pakistan.
