Amistad 2 Group
In this Group: Esmeralda, Pedro, Franklin, Ruth, Benito
Esmeralda is the group coordinator of her group Amistad (Friendship) 2. Her story is representative of both the members of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican. Her group is based in the Samana peninsula. Here she makes her home in a simple structure with her husband and three children.

Esmeralda is a long time associate of Esperanza and this will be her 8th loan with us. She has repaid the other seven successfully and grown her business of selling shoes with different styles and sizes and for women, men and kids. With this loan she plans to invest by buying many pairs of shoes. With the profits she expects to reinvest in her business and to save for her future planes. She thanks you all for your support.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
