Umi is married. She buys, packages and sells hardwood charcoal. At first she used to buy the charcoal already packaged, but she was able to expand her storage. She buys bags and polyurethane, packages the charcoal and sells to small businesses in the zone.
She needs this loan to buy charcoal because she is increasing her number of customers and needs to increase her amount of charcoal to meet their demands. Her greatest desire is to provide an education for her children who attend school so that she can guarantee them a prosperous future.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
