She has been a widow for several years; her husband was a police officer and died in the line of duty of a gunshot wound during a jewelry store robbery. Nora currently works as a caretaker at a school in the city of Cochabamba. One of her daughters became pregnant and the child's father abandoned her so he wouldn't have to take responsibility. Now Nora has taken on paying her daughter's expenses. She took her into her home and enjoys her little grandson's company. She is requesting this loan so she can buy products (candy, cookies, and so on) for her stall and sell them during recess at the school.
