Bojana, at the age of 27 years old, is married and has two daughters ages 4 and 6 years old. Her family lives in one of the minority villages in Kosovo where her husband works as a cleaner in a school and she helps doing some agricultural work while she is staying home and caring for the house and children.

Like most families in her community, they live in very poor conditions and have very little money. Usually she plants different vegetables, including tomatoes and potatoes, on her land so that she can provide nourishment to her family and earn some money selling them to others in her neighborhood.

Currently she needs a loan to purchase some new tools for her machine that makes her work easier and more efficient. She knows that having the machine to help her will improve her quality of life by making things easier for her and allowing her to generate more income. She is very grateful for this opportunity.

More information about this loan

This loan will support the economic aspirations of minority people in Kosovo. Roma people and ethnic Serbians have historically faced a tremendous amount of hardship in Kosovo, and are still socioeconomically and politically vulnerable. During the 1998-1999 war, the fighting displaced 250,000 people. Among those displaced were an estimated 80-90% of the region’s Roma population. Today, Roma and ethnic Serbians living in Kosovo still face discrimination and are excluded from many aspects of society, including fair political representation and high rates of unemployment. By supporting this loan you are helping provide opportunity to marginalized populations.
