Chanlim, 31, lives with her husband and two children in a rural village in the Kampong Siem district, Cambodia. To feed the family, Chanlim works as a garment worker while her husband works as a paid worker. They have been in these jobs for 11 years, earning about US $9 per day to spend on the family’s needs.
Chanlim has been with VisionFund for two cycles and completely paid back her past loans, which have helped her better support her family.
Now Chanlim is applying for a loan to buy a decent motorbike for her family. She hopes this loan will enable her to have a motorbike to commute.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
